After many days of mental practise...well throw in one or two of physicals, yesterday i convinced my body to try my fisrt half marathion race...the longest distance i have ever attempted on foot...during the 4th StanChart Nairobi Marathon.

For starters lets just say running a marathon is no easy task let alone when the body is not well conditioned. No amount of mental psych gets you there since you require the right body parts...legs...working weell to get you to the finish line. The sorry state of matters is augmented by the other contestants who are well prepared...well some are at the office...!

However the elation of crossing the finish line...2 long hours and 20 minutes later...made me swear to do this again... and i rewarded myself with hours of sleep in the afternoon! celebrating victory i call it.

The most important learning for me is that 'in whatever i do i need to plan and prepare thoroughly, but better still i have to put my words into actions!! Further my efforts should be concentrated in the right directions...the body and not the mind in this case.

As my friend says Proper Planning Prevents Particularly Poor Performance (the 6Ps as we know it). I have known this for months now but just did not do it. I can honestly speak for many by claiming that sometimes we lack the inertia to put those 'wise words' into action. However the results of this little discipline are stupendous!

'Some people ask, am i afraid of death? Hell yeah i am afraid of death'...Eminem

Now not many of us have given thought to the fact that we are blissfully passing through this world and that when the grim reaper comes calling we really will not have a choice.

Two things are said to be certain, death and taxes. Whereas we can complain about taxes we cannot about death. Like a thief in the night it comes swiftly and claims its stake.

Question we should be asking is 'will i be at peace when the grim reaper calls on my door? Will i have made my peace with my brother?, my neighbbour?, My God? and my enemies? The thouoght of loosing out on the promised land and living a torturous one in hell is chilling enough to make me afraid of death!

The only warning we receive is that 'NO BODY KNOWS THE DAY NOR THE HOUR' verily i say unto you then, HASTEN AND MAKE YOUR PEACE!

A camel and an elephant met, and the elephant asked: "Why do you have your boobs on your back?"

The camel responded: "What a silly question from someone who has a dick on his face!"

How often is it that we see the malformations and imperfections in other peoples' ways that we forget the things that are abnormal about us.

Just because we are used to our little imperfections it does not mean they are not there!

A rich man went to a wise man and asked "Wise master, how can i get as many friends as the riches i possess?", the wise master knowing what his problem was called him to the window " come have a look into the square, what do you see?","i see a maltitude of people" replied the rich man. After a few moments he called him the mirror, "now what do you see?", "i see myself" he replied. The wise man said to him "the mirror and the window pane are made of glass, but if you put SILVER behind the glass you fail to see the people and ionly see yourself!" This little story teaches us how easy it is to forget the people around us once we come upon a fortune. We need to keep in mind that money can buy you friends but not happiness, therefore we should let others share in the joy of the wealth we have amassed for ourselves. 'Money is like manure, if it is not spread it stinks'

If you are driving and suddenly your car stops moving, what would you think? what would you do? Now most of us will go round the front, look under the bonnet imaginatively, tweek the battery a little and if we imagine we know something the plugs too, then curse the devil and call the mechanic!!

What if i put it to you that perhaps your wheels couldnt take it anymore and they decided not to move, or you accelerator was tired and decided to sleep on the job!! Maybe the roads lost traction, or there is a transparent all infront of you!

Sadly this represents the approach most of us have taken to life, stereotyping. Why does everything unfortunate have to be blamed on the Devil, even when God has designed them to strengthen you through life!! Just because the sun came out in the East this morning and yesterday does not mean it will tommorrow! Why do we always expect and therefore accept mediocre results from some quarters?

Why do we hate to change? Why call the mechanic? roll up your sleeves for once and get the damn car moving!! You wil be suprised at what a little change in attitude can do to your life, a little change in the process to the outcome and a little change in the person to the world.
